Adventures in Ham Radio with WT8X

My name is Aaron, amateur radio callsign WT8X, and I reside in Kimball, MI.

I started out in ham radio back in 1992 after my high school electronics teacher thought I would really enjoy it, and gave me the number to a local ham that taught me all about radio and the multitudes of things you can do. I was licensed as a Technician as KB8PFZ in 1993.

After a few years in the hobby, college, work, and parties took over my life. My gear was packed away and stored until some unfortunate life events taught me that getting some enjoyment out of life was better than working all the time. I took the General test, and passed, in March of 2022. I spent the following year getting on HF, doing some POTA, and learning all I could about digital modes.

On April 14th of 2023, I reluctantly took the Extra exam, and shockingly passed! A few months later I applied for a vanity call and became WT8X.

I’m a member of the Eastern Michigan Amateur Radio Club, the St. Clair County ARPSC, the Who Cares Amateur Radio Group, and a Skywarn spotter.

I get on HF regularly to do FT8, VaraC, or hunt POTA, but I am most often heard on All-Star where I hang out with the Who Cares Amateur Radio Group.
